After 11th-Day Rituals, Garima Saikia Garg Demands Answers From Those Present During Zubeen Garg’s Death. Blames the Manager and Festival Organiser!
Garima Saikia Garg, the wife of the late singer Zubeen Garg, has asked for clear answers about his sudden death. She said the family wants to know what really happened in his last moments and why there was so much negligence.
Zubeen died on September 19 in Singapore during a swimming trip connected to the North East India Festival. His body was brought back to Assam, where thousands of fans paid their respects. He was later cremated with full state honours near Guwahati.
Family Raises Questions After Rituals
After the 11th-day rituals, Garima spoke with conviction. She said those who were present in Singapore must explain what happened. In her words, “We want to know what happened to him, why it happened, and how this negligence was allowed.”
She pointed out that videos showed Zubeen looking tired and weak. According to her, the people near him could have pulled him out of the water easily. She asked why they failed to act when they saw he was not fit to swim.
Garima also mentioned that Zubeen had epilepsy and could not be near fire or water, as it might trigger seizures. She said his manager, Siddhartha Sharma, knew about this condition but did not prevent the incident.
Allegations Against Manager and Organiser
She also questioned festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, who was a close friend of Zubeen. She said he did not ensure proper medical help, security, or special arrangements for the singer. “He had a responsibility but did nothing,” Garima said.
The family has now filed a complaint with the Assam CID. They have asked for a full inquiry and action against the manager and organiser. Assam Police’s Special Investigation Team is already looking into the case. The state government has also sought help from Singapore through the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty to gather more details.
The people of Assam and Zubeen’s fans across India are standing with the family. They want a fair investigation and full clarity. For many, only the truth can bring peace to Zubeen’s memory and justice to his family.
