SSR Case: CBI Files Closure Report; Key Revelations, Including Clean Chit to Rhea Chakraborty

Actress Rhea Chakraborty has been given a clean chit by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. She was accused of financially cheating and mentally harassing the late actor. However, the recent closure report of CBI concluded that there was no evidence that she threatened, illegally confined, or abetted the suicide. 

The Findings Behind the CBI's Closure Report

The CBI officials, upon thorough investigation of the matter, found out that Rhea Chakraborty had left Sushant’s flat on 8 June 2020 and did not visit it thereafter. The report clarified it, saying, “none of the accused persons stayed or lived with him between June 8, 2020, and June 14, 2020.”

Additionally, Sushant did not communicate with Rhea or her family members during this period, except Showik, Rhea’s brother. The CBI report further disclosed that Sushant’s sister, Meetu Singh, had stayed in the flat during this time.

Addressing the theft allegations against Rhea Chakraborty, the findings showed that the actress did not take anything from the flat except an Apple laptop and a watch, which were gifted to her by Sushant Singh Rajput. Sidharth Pithani, a flatmate of the late actor, told CBI officials that Rhea was considered a part of the family by Sushant.

The probe agency’s report states, “The only allegation that has been levelled by the family of Sushant is that he told them that Rhea threatened to make his medical records public, in case he doesn’t toe her line. However, this evidence is in the realm of hearsay.”

About the SSR Death Case

Sushant Singh Rajput, renowned for his works in Bollywood and television series, was found dead in his Bandra flat on 14 June 2020. At first, it was considered suicide, but soon, people started accusing Rhea Chakraborty of the suicide. Thereafter, the actress was arrested on abetment charges and interrogated by several probe agencies over allegations of drug usage.

The CBI has concluded the SSR case by filing a closure report in March 2025, offering a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty. However, the late actor’s family is not convinced by the report and cites it as an eyewash and an incomplete document.
