Dhurandhar has officially become the highest-grossing Hindi film in history. The spy-thriller surpassed Pushpa 2 with a record-breaking box office collection, setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema.
Dhurandhar Box Office Collection
On Tuesday (January 6, 2026), Dhurandhar surpassed the Hindi language collection of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2: The Rise. It has become the highest-grossing film in Hindi ever. The Ranveer Singh-starrer has now earned Rs. 831 crore net domestically, according to the latest figures from the makers.
The production house Jio Studios has shared a poster announcing Dhurandhar as ‘India’s highest-grossing Hindi film’. The poster showed an imposing Ranveer Singh in the centre, with the words, “Thank you India. Ganpati Bappa morya (Hail Lord Ganpati).”
The graphic showed the film’s net domestic collection after 33 days as Rs. 831 crore. According to Jio Studios, the movie, released only in Hindi, has earned Rs 1,240 crore worldwide. It was also the quickest to hit Rs 600 crore, Rs 800 crore, and Rs 1,000 crore worldwide.
Highest Grossing Hindi Movies
Pushpa 2, the pan-India film that released in 2024, was a massive hit with its Hindi dubbed version. The film has earned Rs. 821 crore itself. Trade sources, however, maintain that Dhurandhar’s domestic collection as of Tuesday is Rs. 782 crore.
Dhurandhar has also set a new record for the highest collection by any Indian film in a single language. In 2025, Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava had earned Rs. 601 crore in the language, while Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan had earned Rs. 586 crore.
Other films to earn over Rs. 500 crore in Hindi include Stree 2, Gadar 2, Pathan, Animal, and Baahubali 2.
About Dhurandhar
The Aditya Dhar directorial-Dhurandhar stars Ranveer as Hamza, an Indian operative infiltrating the gang and terror networks of Karachi. The spy thriller also stars Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan in key roles. The second part of the film will be released in March 2026. It will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The film sets its story against IC-814 and the 2001 Parliament attack, following Ajay Sanyal (played by R. Maadhavan) as he trains a young inmate for a dangerous undercover mission.
Spanning nearly a decade, the film also shows the part Pakistan played in major terror attacks – not just in India but globally too, with the use of archival footage. Be it the 9/11 terror attacks or the shocking one that took place in Mumbai on November 26, 2008, the makers have kept the narrative raw.
