Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450: New 5-Seater Variant Launched at ₹1.28 Crore
Luxury automaker, Mercedes Benz has launched EQS 450 5-seater electric SUV in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.28 crore. This addition makes EQS lineup affordable now as it is priced ₹14 lakh lower than the current 7-seater EQS 580 model priced at ₹1.42 crore. Both versions are manufactured and assembled in the Mercedes Benz Chakan plant in India.
Design and Interior Highlights
The EQS SUV 450 looks very similar to the model it replaces, with only some changes – like the new wheels. It has a p Shimano Gravel Graza closed-off grille with a huge Mercedes Benz badge halfway down the bonnet, Low profile sleek LEDs for headlights and a unified LED DRL strip across the bonnet. Moreover, it has integrated flush-fitting deck handles and linked LED tail lamps that are perfect for its fashion look.
Inside, the cabin is identical to the EQS 580 at its core with the MBUX hyperscreen configuration. The largest display measures 55.5 inches and encompasses a 17.7-inch central screen for operation, there is a 12.3-inch digital driver screen and another 12.3-inch screen for the co-driver. Other delights are multi-colour ambient lighting, a head-up display and a rear centre armrest display array. Other features include a 360-degree camera, high level of airbags, driver’s assistance systems and ISOFIX anchorage points for child seats.

Nonetheless, the two EQS SUV variants are equipped with the same 122 kWh battery capacity while having different propulsion configurations. The new EQS SUV 450 are available with 360 PS and 800 Nm of torque, while the EQS 580 produces 544 PS and 858 Nm of torque. The same vehicle is outfitted with a battery that completes an ARAI-certified range of 821 km, 12 km more than the 809 km of the EQS 580. Both variants also have all-wheel drive (AWD) for better grip on the road.
Competition and Market Impact
The introduction of the new EQS SUV 450 makes Mercedes-Benz expand its market niche as the producer of luxurious electric SUVs. The Mercedes Benz EQS SUV challenges rival models of Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX in the Indian automobile market.
