EQS 580 4MATIC is the locally produced electric SUV, marking India's first domestic production of this seven-seater model.

In the light of electric vehicles becoming the conscious choice of new automobile owners. The Mercedes Benz has made it clear that it is here to dominate. With the launch of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC Electric SUV, Mercedes aims to entice the luxury market. Also, the launch marks its jump on the EV bandwagon, which is on the rise amidst the growing trend of green vehicles.

Priced at a whopping 1.41 Cr, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC Electric makes its way into the market; it also marks itself as the first seven seater Mercedes-Benz vehicle to be produced locally in India.

Head of Mercedes-Benz India, Santosh Iyer told PTI, “This will be our sixth EV in India, and the second car to be locally produced in India. We are also proud that India became the first market out of the US to locally manufacture the EQS.’ He further emphasized that making the EQS SUV in India will allow Mercedes to price their EVs more competitively. “Localizing production reflects our commitment to growing the luxury EV market in India and supporting a greener, more sustainable future,” Iyer added.

Amidst the growing trend of green vehicles, Iyer clarified that Mercedes-Benz India’s focus remains on high-end electric vehicles with greater range. Our EQA sedan, launched 18 months ago, has sold over 500 units, despite its Rs 1.6 crore price tag. Our EV sales now account for 5% of total sales, and we're seeing significant customer acceptance," Iyer noted.

This move aligns with the Indian government's Make-in-India initiative, promoting local manufacturing and sustainable growth. This initiative works with the Indian government's 'Make-in-India' push, reinforcing Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to sustainable luxury mobility in the country.
