Mohsin Naqvi, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chief, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and a prominent minister in Pakistan, has been trending since the Asia Cup 2025 final match between India and Pakistan for taking the Asia Cup Trophy and medals with him. However, it is now said that he has returned the trophy to the UAE Cricket Board.

Mohsin Naqvi Returns Asia Cup Trophy

Mohsin Naqvi has finally returned the Asia Cup trophy to the UAE Cricket Board after receiving several allegations from the BCCI. However, it has not yet been finalized who will give the trophy to the Indian players. BCCI has also claimed that his misconduct has damaged the reputation of the cricket administration.

According to NDTV reports, BCCI officials met with the ACC Chief about the theft of the trophy. BCCI accused Naqvi of violating the Code of Responsibilities and Ceremonial Protocols for refusing to return the trophy initially.

BCCI Secretary, Devajit Saikia, said the following about Naqvi’s trophy-stealing act: “This does not give him the right to take the trophy and the medals with him. It is extremely unfortunate and unsportsmanlike. We hope the trophy and medals will be returned to India as soon as possible.”

He further added, “There is an ICC conference scheduled in Dubai this November, and at that conference, we will launch a very serious and strong protest against the actions of the ACC chairman.”

Why did Mohsin Naqvi take the Trophy in the First Place?

After India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, Naqvi was supposed to give the winning trophy to India, but the Indian team members refused to take it from him owing to some past incidents. Following this refusal, the ACC Chief took the trophy to his hotel room.
