Pakistani fast-bowler Harris Rauf received a 30% fine from the ICC as the BCCI filed a complaint against him for his gestures. The pacer made a provocative gesture during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four Match. On the other hand, Sahibzada Farhan got a warning for his gunshot celebration.

International Cricket Council Takes Action Against Haris Rauf

The International Cricket Council (ICC) fined Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf 30% of his match fee for a Level 1 offence under the Code of Conduct, citing abusive language and aggressive gestures during the Asia Cup Super Four match against India.

The aggressive gestures included mimicking a crashing plane and raising his hand to signal "6-0" towards Indian fans who were reportedly chanting "Kohli, Kohli" to provoke him, a reference to the 2022 T20 World Cup. While Rauf was punished for his aggressive behaviour, he denied that his actions were connected to India or the geopolitical context often associated with the "6-0" taunt.

An NDTV report says a tournament source told PTI that “Match referee Richie Richardson had completed his hearing on Friday afternoon at the team hotel. Haris Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fees for aggressive behaviour, and Farhan has been let off with a warning.”

Sahibzada Farhan Receives Warning for 'gun-fire' Celebration

Harris Rauf is not the only Pakistani cricketer who faced an issue under the code of conduct. Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan received an official reprimand from the ICC for his controversial "gun-fire" celebration after reaching his half-century against India in the same Asia Cup Super 4 match.

The ICC match referee issued a warning without a financial penalty for the Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct, which prohibits gestures that bring the game into disrepute.

Farhan, however, defended his action during the hearing, stating it was cultural, traditional in his ethnic background, and not politically motivated. He even referred to similar gestures made by former Indian captains like MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in the past.

To sum up, Pakistani fast-bowler Haris Rauf was fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for making aggressive gestures and using abusive language towards the Indian fans during its Asia Cup Super Four match against India. In addition, his teammate, Sahibzada Farhan, was warned about his "gun-fire" celebration in the same game.
