WhatsApp now allows you to hide your online status and chat in private; here's how to do it.
WhatsApp recently introduced several new privacy features for its users. One of the features is the ability to hide your online status. WhatsApp introduced the online status-hiding feature a few months ago, and it is now available to all users on the iOS and Android platforms. So, if you want to keep your WhatsApp online status hidden from your boss or a stalker, you can do so now.
Step 1: Android or iOS users will first need to update the WhatsApp app
Step 2: Open the WhatsApp app on your phone
Step 3: Head over to the Settings menu
Step 4: Next, click on Account settings
Step 5: Scroll down to the Privacy option
Step 6: Click on Last seen & online
Step 7: Now, you can select “who can see when I’m online”
Step 8: Change the setting as per your requirements.
Users can already hide their last seen from everyone, contacts, or a select few. You can also choose not to hide your last seen from anyone. In that case, select the fourth option under online status settings -Nobody. There are only two options for hiding your online status: Everyone's or same as last seen.' So, first, choose your last seen setting and then apply it to your online status. This way, you can hide your WhatsApp online status from specific users or all of your contacts. The company's goal with the online status-hiding feature is to prioritize privacy. In recent months, WhatsApp has introduced several new privacy-related features. According to the company, all chats on the platform are end-to-end encrypted, which means that no one can read them except the sender and receiver. Neither WhatsApp nor its parent company Meta.
WhatsApp has just released a few new features, including the long-awaited Communities. Furthermore, the instant messaging platform added some group features, such as 32-person video calling, 1024 group participants, and more. These WhatsApp features will be available in the coming months. WhatsApp is without a doubt the most popular messaging app. It is also regularly updated, with new features being added. Despite its many features, there is one thing it lacks that other apps like Telegram and Hike have - a secret chat or the ability to hide specific chats from prying eyes. While WhatsApp recently added fingerprint authentication to its Android app and Touch ID and Face ID authentication to iPhones, there is no way to lock or hide a specific chat. Still, we can hide the chat from the home screen using an in-built feature.
