SIT Arrests Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya in Death Probe Over Rs. 1.1 Crore Transaction

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), a Crime Investigation Department from the Assam Police, has arrested Zubeen Garg’s personal security guards, Nandeswar Bora, and Paresh Baishya. They are accused of carrying out suspicious transactions that exceed Rs. 1 Crore.

SIT Arrests Two of Zubeen’s Personal Security Officers 
 

SIT Chief, Munna Prasad Gupta, said, “Yes, both arrested by the SIT/CID today. The team has brought the arrested persons to the CJM (Chief Judicial Magistrate) court for production.”

In connection with Garg's death, several other individuals were also arrested, including his event organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, and his cousin Sandipan Garg, who was also a police officer. This suggests the authorities suspect a broader conspiracy surrounding the singer's death.

What did Zubeen Garg’s Wife Say?
 

Amidst the investigations being carried out by Assam Police, Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia, has asked people not to politicise the demise of her husband. Furthermore, she has requested the eyewitnesses to step forward and reveal the truth.

She said, “I am still keeping the faith, 5 to 6 people have been arrested in this case, but they haven't spoken the truth yet. I am waiting very patiently. People are cooperating with the investigation team and the judicial system. I hope the truth comes out fast.”

Assamese singer Zubeen Garg passed away on 19 September 2025 while scuba diving in the Singapore Sea. The singer was visiting the Lion City to perform at the Northeast India Festival. Unfortunately, a fatal accident occurred a day before the performance during a yacht party.

Zubeen’s death was previously ruled an accident; however, Shekhar Jyoti, Garg’s bandmate, now claims he was poisoned in Singapore.

To sum up, the arrest of Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya over suspicious transactions of Rs. 1 crore has deepened the mystery behind the singer’s death. This financial angle indicates a potential conspiracy or foul play.
