Deepinder Goyal, the founder of food delivery platform Zomato, has resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of Eternal Group. The company announced on Wednesday that Goyal will step down from his position effective February 1, 2026. Albinder Dhindsa, who currently leads Blinkit, will take over as the new Group CEO.

Goyal will move to the role of Vice Chairman on the board of directors, subject to approval from shareholders. In a letter to shareholders, he explained his decision to leave the top job. He said he has become interested in new ideas that involve high-risk exploration and experimentation. According to Goyal, these ideas are better pursued outside a public company framework.

"Of late, I have found myself drawn to a set of new ideas that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation," Goyal wrote. He added that if these ideas fit within the company's plans, he would have pursued them inside Eternal. However, he believes the company should remain focused and disciplined on its current business areas.

Deepinder Goyal stressed that stepping down as CEO does not mean he is leaving the company behind. He said Eternal remains his life's work and his commitment to the company's goals has not changed. He wants Eternal to become India's most valuable company and serve a billion customers. He also wants the company to create jobs for millions of Indians and make a positive impact on society.

The leadership change comes as Eternal reported strong financial results. The company posted a profit of 102 crore rupees for the quarter ending December 31, 2025. This marks a 73 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue from operations reached 16,315 crore rupees, up sharply from 5,405 crore rupees in the previous year.

Albinder Dhindsa has been praised by Goyal for his leadership at Blinkit. Goyal said Dhindsa built the team, culture, and supply chain at Blinkit and led the company to break even. He described Dhindsa as having the qualities of a battle-tested founder with strong execution skills. Blinkit recently turned profitable at the operating level for the first time, reporting a profit of 4 crore rupees.

As part of the transition, all of Goyal's unvested stock options will go back to the company's employee stock pool. This will help create opportunities for the next generation of leaders without adding extra cost for shareholders.
