Main Changes Adopted
- No-Vehicle Zone: Vehicle entry is banned throughout the Maha Kumbh fair area, starting from private to public transport vehicles.
- VVIP Passes Cancelled: Special passes through which vehicle entry was allowed have been withdrawn.
- One-way routes: There is a one-way traffic system implemented to allow easier flow of devotees.
- Entry of vehicles: Vehicles from neighboring districts are restricted at the district borders to reduce congestion.
- Restrictions up to February 4: Entry of four-wheelers into the city is not allowed to ensure law and order during the event.
Administrative steps
To improve crowd control, senior IAS officers Ashish Goyal and Bhanu Goswami have been deployed. Both played a key role in managing the 2019 Ardh Kumbh successfully.
Five other officers with experience in handling large gatherings have also been assigned to oversee operations.
CM Yogi Adityanath’s Respons
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting and issued multiple guidelines focusing on safety. He ordered a thorough review of the Maha Kumbh arrangements and directed officials to ensure the safe exit of devotees.
Additional buses have been deployed to manage crowds at railway stations. Holding areas have been set up at border points, equipped with food, water, and electricity, ensuring comfort for devotees awaiting entry.
Judicial Investigation and Compensation
A three-member judicial commission has been established for inquiry into the causality of stampede. The Chief Minister has also announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the deceased.
These are only some measures that can be used to prevent such incidents in the future and are sure to save millions who are expected to attend Maha Kumbh.
