The police was tipped about the drug trafficking and intercepted the bus near Ramoji Film City. The officials found two briefcases in the luggage compartment filled with ganja. They identified the two smugglers as Rajender Chitti and Biren Naik and sent them to Hayatnagar excise station.

Chitti and Naik revealed the name of a person called Kusbhh who lives in Odisha. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that he was the mastermind who ordered the delivery of this drug to a close contact in Hyderabad.

Recently, Andhra Pradesh police also caught drug traffickers in the ASR district. They destroyed all the cannabis plantations in the district, forcing the smugglers to fulfil their ganja demands from Odisha

In just six months, the officials seized over 21,700 kg of ganja in AP. When the officials investigated deeper, it appeared that almost 90% of the ganja found in these six months was exported from Odisha. This has raised a serious concern.

A police official said, “We have been using advanced technologies such as drones and satellite imagery to identify cannabis plantations and have destroyed many plants in remote areas.” He further added, “We are promoting alternative agricultural practices among tribals.”
