Tragedy on Jaipur Highway: 12 Dead, 18 Injured as Runaway Dumper Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash

In the afternoon, at around 1 p.m., a horrific incident took place when a dumper truck rammed into 17 vehicles, killing approximately 12 people, and leaving more than 10 people severely injured. 

The shocking accident occurred on Monday near Loha Mandi in the Harmada area of Jaipur, Rajasthan. It is reported that three of the injured people are in critical condition as of now and have been immediately rushed to the SMS Hospital Trauma Centre. Explore more details of the incident below!

The Chain of Destruction

A speeding truck driver lost control and collided with 17 vehicles straight for 300 meters. The incident occurred within the limits of the Harmada Police Station. Authorities have reported injuries to more than 18 people in this massive chain of destruction. This accident has exposed serious concerns about the safety of heavy vehicles in the city.

The Jaipur Police Commissioner, Sachin Mittal, initially reported 10 casualties in the episode, while Jitendra Soni, the Jaipur District Collector, later confirmed that the number was 12. 

As the investigation was carried out to determine the cause of the accident, it was revealed that brake failure led to this tragic collision. The empty dumper truck was heading towards the Loha Mandi petrol pump from Road No. 14. 

However, it suddenly lost control and began hitting vehicles one after another at great speed. The police officials soon reached the location, diverted the traffic flow, and cleared the heavily damaged cars from the road.

Emergency Response and Ongoing Police Investigation

The injured were immediately taken to the hospital by the emergency services team, which had launched rescue and relief operations. The hospital administration also placed doctors and nursing staff on emergency alert status to effectively tackle any unprecedented circumstances. 

Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, expressed grief over this tragedy and ordered officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible treatment. He sent several of his ministers, including Jhavar Singh Kharra and KK Bishnoi, to the hospitals where these wounded people had been admitted to oversee relief arrangements.
