A grand ‘Dhwajarohan’ ceremony, which marked the formal completion of construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, was held on 25 November 2025, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted a sacred saffron flag atop the temple's spire.

“Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye,” PM Modi Declares Steadfast Resolve

At the event, held during the 'auspicious Abhijit Muhurat', PM Modi was joined by top dignitaries, including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Authorities estimate that up to 8,000 invitees attended, representing different social and cultural groups.

During his address after the flag hoist, PM Modi invoked the Hindi phrase “Pran jaye par vachan na jaye,” saying that the flag was a sign of an unbroken resolve. He said the saffron banner represents truth and dharma, linking it to India’s civilisational ethos.

He added that it is not just a religious flag, but a guiding light that will lead future generations to take an oath to stand by their words, even in the face of hardships.

Modi described the day as the culmination of a centuries‑long sacrifice: “The resolve of centuries is being fulfilled today.” He reflected upon Lord Ram and noted how, as a prince, Ram went into exile but returned as the ‘epitome of righteousness.’

Sacred Flag Highlights Temple’s Rich Symbolism

The flag itself is rich in symbolism, a right-angled triangular saffron banner, approximately 10 ft high and 20 ft long, bearing a radiant sun, the sacred ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree.  According to the Temple authorities, it weighs about 11 kg.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust asserts that the Dhwajarohan ceremony signifies the ‘architectural and ritual completion’ of the temple; in other words, a moment of spiritual activation akin to a second pran pratishtha. The earlier pran pratishtha, held in January 2024, had consecrated the idol of Ram Lalla in the sanctum sanctorum.

He also visited and offered prayers at key points in the temple complex before the ceremony: the Sapt Mandir (with shrines of seven sages), the Sheshavtar Mandir, and the Mata Annapurna temple.

Ceremonial Dhwajarohan Marks Spiritual Activation Today

The chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, while addressing the gathering, referred to the tricolor as a symbol that ‘the flame of dharma is never extinguished’ and depicted the occasion as the birth of a new period.
