Lead actor and director Rishab Shetty describes the overwhelming reception to Kantara Chapter 1 as a ‘dakshina’ from viewers, saying it is about history, folklore, and a profound spiritual connection, rather than simply being another legendary fiction.

As a precursor to his 2022 Kannada smash Kantara, the film's overwhelming popularity is like an offering for Rishab Shetty.

Given its rich storytelling, examination of coastal Karnataka's folklore, and traditional elements, Kantara became a cultural phenomenon upon its release. Eventually, it became one of the highest-grossing Kannada movies ever made.
