Nine out of ten parking bays are reportedly occupied by this carrier because of crew shortage and operational crisis. IndiGo has left only one parking bay open for new flights since Thursday, preventing the deboarding of several airlines like Air India and Akasa Air. This led to hundreds of passengers being stranded at the airport.

Reportedly, nine out of the ten available parking bays are blocked by grounded IndiGo aircraft. This situation has left only one bay operational for all other carriers.

IndiGo’s operations have been significantly disrupted across its entire network over the past two days. The airline has cited multiple reasons for the disruption including unforeseen operational challenges. These include minor technological glitches and cancelled schedules due to the winter season. On top of these conditions, adverse weather and growing congestion in the aviation system contributed to this chaos. 

Crucially, the application of new, updated rules concerning crew rostering added to the compounding negative impact. Sources indicate an acute crew shortage since the second phase of the new FDTL norms began. The new, enhanced norms requiring increased rest periods have added fuel to the staff deficit, further worsening the ongoing crisis.

In brief, the IndiGo flight crisis, that impacted the flight timings of various flights since Wednesday, is now causing delays at other airlines. Reportedly, IndiGo flights occupied 9 parking bays out of 10 at the Pune airport. This led to deboarding issues, and several passengers were left stranded.
