Sourav Ganguly Backs India Ahead of High-Voltage Pakistan Clash in T20 World Cup 2026
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly just dropped some major thoughts on the 2026 T20 World Cup. All the hype is currently on the huge India vs Pakistan match set for Sunday, February 15, in Colombo. Ganguly says this game is still the biggest attraction in the whole cricket world. He believes the current Indian team is a total powerhouse. He thinks they will be very tough for Pakistan to handle on the Sri Lankan pitches.
The path to this game was actually quite messy. Not long ago, the match was uncertain because the Pakistani government talked about a boycott. That drama finally ended on February 9 after the PCB and ICC had some serious meetings. Now that things are settled, fans are ready for a packed stadium. Ganguly mentioned that India looks like a very balanced group right now. He feels they have no real weak spots.
India started the tournament well with a win against the USA. They play Namibia in Delhi before heading to Sri Lanka for the big rivalry. Ganguly also shared which specific players he likes watching the most. He picked out Abhishek Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah as his top guys. He also mentioned Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan as key players. He said these guys bring a lot of heat to the T20 game.
Ganguly also had some good things to say about the smaller teams. He noted that Nepal and Scotland have played some very good cricket so far. He thinks this makes the 2026 World Cup much more exciting than the old ones. Even with other teams getting better, the India-Pakistan fight is still number one for him. The ex-BCCI boss is sure that India’s young talent and solid bowling give them a huge advantage. Everyone is waiting to see if the team can deliver on Ganguly's predictions when they finally meet in Colombo.
