J&K Forces Demolish Pulwama House of Dr. Umar Nabi, a Key Suspect in Delhi Car Blast
On Friday, security forces demolished the house of Dr. Umar Nabi in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. He is currently accused of having links with the horrific Delhi blast near the Red Fort. According to the officials investigating the case, Umar was behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 that was carrying explosives.
Additionally, two individuals were detained on Thursday in Uttar Pradesh. One of them is identified as a medical college professor, while the other is a medical college student from J&K.
Demolition Part of the Terror Probe
The demolished structure was located in the Koil village of Pulwama district. The forces tore the house down during the late hours of Thursday. Officials confirmed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used for controlled demolition. This action was a direct part of the ongoing investigation into the deadly Delhi blast.
The Red Fort blast on Monday night completely reduced a two-story residential building to piles of debris. Before the demolition, Dr. Nabi's family members were safely evacuated from the house. Police sources suggested that the act was intended to send a strong message against militants and militancy. The demolition followed the conclusive DNA match that confirmed Nabi's role in the car explosion.
Dr. Umar Nabi's Role and Network Link
DNA samples confirmed Dr. Umar Nabi was driving the Hyundai i20 car, which detonated near the Red Fort. Nabi worked as an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. He was identified as a key member of a "white-collar" terror network. This module was allegedly linked to banned terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Investigators are probing whether this module intended a multi-city terror attack.
Nabi was allegedly linked to Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie and Dr. Adeel Rather. These associates were arrested after a massive cache of explosives was recovered in Faridabad. Investigators believe the group included several doctors who used their credentials to procure explosive components. Nabi and Ganaie also reportedly traveled to Turkey, which is suspected to be the origin point of the terror plot.
