BJP workers reportedly forced senior Congress leader Prakash Pagare to wear a sari. This incident in the city of Dombivali, Mumbai, has enraged Congress leaders across the country. Kalyan district’s Congress President, Sachin Pote, condemned this behavior and has demanded that the police take strict action against the perpetrators. 

BJP Workers Make Senior Congress Leader Wear Sari

Prakash Pagare, also known as ‘Mama,’ recently shared a post with an altered image of Prime Minister Modi draped in a sari. This made the BJP workers furious. They called the Congress leader misleadingly and made him wear a sari in public. The incident has sparked protests and clashes between the two parties.

BJP cadres also shared a video of Prakash Pagare wearing a sari and linked a derogatory song to it. Pagare, currently 73 years old, is widely known in Ulhasnagar for his frank nature. He expressed opinions on controversial matters that others hesitated to.

This whole act of deceitfully calling Pagare and draping him in a sari was led by the BJP’s Kalyan district president, Nandu Parab. Here’s what Parab said about the incident: “Posting such a distasteful image of our Prime Minister is not only offensive but also unacceptable.” He further added, “If such attempts are made again to defame our leaders, the BJP will give an even stronger reply.”

What Was the Response of Congress Leaders to this Incident?

Congress president in Kalyan district, Sachin Pote, has criticized the act by saying, “Pagare is a 73-year-old senior party worker. If he had posted something objectionable, BJP members should have lodged a complaint with the police instead of misleading him and then forcibly making him wear a sari.” Arguing that “This act is an attack on freedom of expression.”

Sachin Pote said that BJP leaders often post derogatory content on social media, but Congress leaders have never responded in this way. He has also demanded that the police take action against all the BJP members involved in this act. This incident has been widely criticized, and the BJP is facing hate for it.
