Almond Vs Oat Milk: Which Plant-Based Drink Is Actually Better For Heart Health?

Plant milks are taking over every coffee shop in India lately. Everyone is ditching cow milk to save their heart, but choosing between almond and oat milk is actually pretty confusing. Since almost 27% of Indians struggle with heart problems, it makes sense that we’re all obsessed with these labels. The ICMR says changing what you eat is the best move for your ticker. But look, these two drinks are totally different. One is basically just nut juice, and the other is liquid cereal. You have to pick based on what your body actually needs.

If you are trying to slim down or watch your sugar, almond milk is your winner. It is super light, only 30 to 40 calories per cup. That is way lower than most other options. It also has a ton of Vitamin E. That stuff is an antioxidant that keeps your heart muscles from getting trashed by stress. Studies say it can help scrub some of that nasty fat out of your blood, too. But it’s not all perfect. It has almost no protein and requires a large amount of water to grow. Not great if you care about the planet.

Now, oat milk is what you want if high cholesterol is your big fear. It has beta-glucan. That is a special fiber that basically traps bad cholesterol in your gut, so it can’t get into your system. It is much creamier than almond milk, but it definitely has more carbs and calories. If you have a nut allergy, this is the obvious choice. Doctors keep yelling at us to buy the unsweetened kind because “original” flavors are usually loaded with hidden sugar. Basically, almond is for weight loss, and oat is for fiber. Pick your poison.
