Google is working on an Android version of Apple's Find My Network and this is how it works
According to the most recent Play System update, Google appears to be launching its own version of Apple's Find My network for Android devices. Thanks to the network, users will be able to track their lost or stolen devices even if they are not connected to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and are turned off.
Finding your misplaced items in Android just got a lot easier with the new Google find my device network feature. Google appears to be preparing to launch its version of Apple's Find My network. The update mentions a "privacy-centric framework" and encrypted last-known-location reports, implying that the company intends to expand its Find My Device network to Android devices. Similar to Apple's Find My network for its products, this network would allow users to track their lost or stolen Android devices even if they are not connected to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and are turned off.
Google was rumored to be working on this type of network in 2021, but there hasn't been much progress until now. In addition to the Find My Device network, the updated Play System update includes several new features. These features include automatic app archiving when storage space is low and support for Digital Car Keys on Xiaomi phones (previously available only on select Samsung and Pixel devices). Users of the Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 2 can also manage payment cards linked to the Google Wallet app via their wearables thanks to the update. Google is improving its ID verification process by inspecting the quality of uploaded ID images.
These modifications are included in the Google Play Services v50.22 and Google Play Store v33.5 updates. The Google Play Services update was made available on December 15, and the Google Play Store update began to be distributed on December 12. The speculation stems from new code discovered in the most recent version of Google Play Services. According to the findings, Google will use Google Play Services on Android devices to build this useful network and enable location tracking. The code was discovered by XDA Developers in Google Play Services version 21.24.13, which was released to beta users on Thursday. It was discovered to have strings containing the name and functionality of the upcoming feature.
