Dhurandhar 2 Mania: Why Dubai Audiences are Flying to India for Ranveer Singh’s Spy Thriller
The highly anticipated sequel Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh and R. Madhavan, is sparking an unprecedented cross-border movement ahead of its 19 March 2026 release.
With the film currently banned in several Middle Eastern territories, hundreds of fans from Dubai are reportedly booking flights to India specifically to witness the high-octane espionage thriller on the big screen. This surge in ‘cinema tourism’ comes as the franchise looks to pivot away from traditional tropes.
The End of an Era for India-Pakistan Narratives
The film is directed by Aditya Dhar, who also made the 2025 hit Dhurandhar. This sequel is being called the final chapter for movies focused on the India-Pakistan conflict. Actor R. Madhavan recently spoke about this shift in an interview with Sonia Shenoy on her YouTube channel. He explained that younger audiences are looking for new types of stories. They want something different from the usual war films we have seen for decades.
"Traditionally, we've been making movies around the India–Pakistan war or our freedom struggle. That has been our action space... But the younger generation doesn't even want that anymore. And I think after Dhurandhar, that whole India–Pakistan thing is going to go. That's the full stop now," Madhavan stated.
How Much Does it Cost for Dubai Fans to See Dhurandhar 2 in India?
Traveling from Dubai to India to see a movie is a big financial decision. Since the film won't play in Gulf theaters, fans must plan their trips carefully. A round-trip flight from Dubai to cities like Mumbai or Delhi around 19 March costs between AED 1,200 and AED 2,500. This is roughly Rs. 27,000 to Rs. 56,000. Fans also have to pay for hotels and premium movie tickets.
This trend is helping the Indian economy in a small but unique way. Hotels and restaurants near big IMAX theaters expect more customers from overseas. Madhavan mentioned that some fans are even "planning their business meetings around March 19" to make the trip easier. This proves that Dhurandhar 2 is more than just a movie; it is a major international event. It shows that great content can bring people across borders even when a film is banned locally.
