Viral Chats Spark Wedding Drama as Mary D’Costa Denies Involvement in Palash Muchhal Controversy

Mary D’Costa, the woman at the centre of renewed scrutiny in the Smriti Mandhana–Palash Muchhal wedding drama, has broken her silence, insisting she is not the choreographer everyone is talking about.

In an Instagram post, Mary explained that her interaction with Palash was brief from April  29 to May 30, 2025, and that she never met him in person. “I never got involved with him in any way,” she wrote, adding that she first exposed their chats back in July, at a time when Palash wasn’t so well-known and the revelation went largely unnoticed.

Mary Clarifies Identity Amid Wedding Postponement Drama

Mary further addressed widespread confusion about her identity. Many reports and online rumours had labelled her ‘the choreographer’ linked to Palash around his planned wedding with Smriti Mandhana. In her post, she said: “I am not the choreographer, and I am not the person he cheated with.”

The marriage ceremony that was initially scheduled to take place on November 23, 2025, was postponed in view of a heart‑related medical emergency involving Smriti’s father. While the sangeet and haldi functions had been completed, the rest of the celebrations were stopped.

Mary Explains Sharing Chats, Online Backlash

Amid the postponement, screenshots of alleged ‘flirty chats’ between Palash Mucchal and Mary began circulating on social media. Apparently, Mary herself shared them on Reddit. However, the account was later deactivated. 

Mary now claims she shared the chats because she is a fan of Smriti and felt people deserved to know, not out of malice. “I adore Smriti Mandhana,” she wrote. She further said the online backlash was overwhelming- the reason she made her account private.

Will Wedding Drama Settle Soon?

Meanwhile, neither Smriti nor Palash has commented on these allegations of cheating, or on Mary's clarification. Palash's cousin called for people not to judge him without knowing the full facts.

As of now, confirmed facts remain sparse: the wedding has been indefinitely postponed, Smriti’s father has been treated for a health scare, and the social media uproar shows little sign of abating. What’s clear is that Mary D’Costa is officially distancing herself from the ‘choreographer’ label, even as questions linger.
