Avatar: Fire and Ash Surpasses Original, Boosts Dhurandhar Box Office Performance Across India
Dhurandhar, the spy action thriller starring Ranveer Singh, continued its moneyspinning spree at the box office on the 18th day of its release (Monday, the 22nd of December), even as there was a sharp fall in the daily collections.
On its third Monday, the movie witnessed a sharp fall in its collections, roughly 50 percent lower than what it was on Sunday, touching the Rs. 16-19.5 crore mark on the day; the first single-day collection of less than Rs. 20 crore since its release.
Dhurandhar’s Avatar Sees Record-Breaking India Collections
Despite this holding back daily numbers, Dhurandhar’s cumulative collection remains quite daunting. With India's net earnings having breached the Rs. 570 crore mark and moving close to Rs. 600 crore, overseas collections are also above Rs. 850-872 crore. This places this movie among the top-grossing Indian films of 2025 so far.
One of the major positive aspects of Day 18 was Avatar: Fire and Ash, created by Dhurandhar. Despite Avatar’s global fan base, Avatar: Fire and Ash outperformed the original in India during its third week, surpassing the initial run’s box office there.
Could Dhurandhar Enter the Rs. 1,000 Crore Club?
The Ranveer Singh-starrer continued to dominate, surpassing Animal in domestic collections and overtaking Kantara Chapter 1 to become the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide this year.
Analysts have noted that, while the third Monday dip was expected given how well it performed on the previous weekend, Dhurandhar’s consistent footfall and its bookings during the holiday season, especially Christmas, could sustain its box office at higher positions in the days to come.
As estimates indicate it could enter the Rs. 900 crore club, or even break into the Rs. 1,000 crore club, in its worldwide total, Dhurandhar will certainly finish its box office run among the top-grossing films in India.
