Zoom teams up with OpenAI to bring AI-driven features to the platform through Zoom IQ

Zoom, the video conferencing platform announced that it is teaming up with OpenAI to bring AI-driven features to the Zoom platform. It includes drafting content for chats, summarizing chat threads, organizing ideas, creating meeting agendas, and more through AI-powered assistant Zoom IQ.

The new feature has been introduced at a time when technology companies are rushing to incorporate smart companions into their products and services. Artificial Intelligence in the Zoom app has been modified, to make it a more productive app. Zoom IQ is a smart companion that enables people to collaborate more effectively. According to the company, Zoom IQ’s capabilities will help users move through their day more easily. In simple words, if a member arrives late for a Zoom meeting, he/she can ask Zoom IQ to summarise what they’ve missed and ask further questions.

“Zoom has long built AI solutions into our products to empower customers to be more productive,” the chief product officer at Zoom, Smita Hashim said. The company stated its use of OpenAI to strengthen its approach to AI technology based on flexibility. The partnership of Zoom with OpenAI has many capabilities like, if a user need to create a whiteboard session for their meeting, Zoom IQ can do using text prompts. “We are excited to bring many more capabilities with new large language models. Our unique approach to AI will give customers the flexibility they want and help significantly improve collaboration and customer relations,” Hashim added. Zoom IQ can assist users in providing the summary of the thread, and Zoom IQ chat composition are so simple that the user can find the right words by drafting responses for the user and even rephrasing responses. In simple terms, users of Zoom team chat will soon be able to use the compose feature to write messages based on the context of the conversation. Based on the conversational context from previous Zoom meetings, phone calls, and email threads, Users can receive email draft suggestions which is a feature that will be initially available in Zoom IQ for sales. Users can also use AI to generate a meeting summary, capture the next steps, and share it via team chat, zoom calendar, and email without recording the conversation. This was launched by the company as ‘Zoom Mail and Calender’.
