WhatsApp's Enhanced Privacy: Secret Chats for Security
The upcoming upgrades in WhatsApp indicates that they are working to bolster security and improve privacy of its users. In the upcoming upgrades, WhatsApp is introducing a feature that will enable users to make selected conversations completely invisible.
If a user decides to hide a chat using that feature, the chats will not be listed among other conversations. This hidden chat feature will help users to maintain security and privacy.
Users can set a PIN or a secret code to hide chats of their choice and then open these hidden chats by entering the secret code in the search bar whenever they want. The secret code is different from the phone’s PIN. A secret code, different from the phone’s PIN, will make the secret chats more secure.
Leaked screenshot obtained by WABetaInfo suggest that the feature is still in development. Currently, it is only available to beta testers. It remains uncertain if or when WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, will release this feature to the public.
Those who are eager to try it out can become beta testers by downloading the WhatsApp beta version from Google Play and following the instructions they have provided there.
