Add context to WhatsApp Forwards: New custom message feature in Beta

Meta-owned messaging app, WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature that will enable its users to add custom messages every time they forward some content. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is available for the beta version of Android 2.24.25.3. The feature will improve how information is shared by users by allowing people to create more personalized forwarded messages.

Custom Messages for All Content Types

This WhatsApp update will be available for messages, documents, videos, images, and links. This means that users will now be able to pass on more information about themselves in the forwarded content itself, eliminating the need for a separate message or chunks of follow-up messages. For instance, this is applicable when users forwarding an image or a video clip can add additional messages in the form of short descriptions.

Improved Convenience for Users

This feature aims to enhance the ease by which information can be communicated through the WhatsApp application. At the moment, the user has to type another message, when sharing content to pass to friends. This extra step is removed by the new feature.

WABetaInfo reports:

“This means that users will be able to add some details to a message while forwarding it unlike now where users have to manually send a message separately after forwarding something.”

This change is expected to save time and improve the overall user experience.

What Users Can Expect

This means users can forward messages with short descriptions, unlike current usage where the user has to send separate messages to support the forwarded message. Subsequently, the feature is aimed to offer a more interactive response. Users can now provide or highlight information added when forwarding content without any additional effort.

Potential Rollout Timeline

Although the feature is still in the beta stage, it reflects how WhatsApp is aiming at simplifying the interface and increasing the convenience of its app. Moreover, WhatsApp is yet to announce when the service will go public. However, beta users have given positive feedback to the feature so far.

A Step Forward in Communication

WhatsApp continues to bring features that are supposed to increase the engagement level of the users. This update is a step towards making its communication smoother efficient and more personalised to its user base around the world.
