Google to Pay News Corp Up to $6 Million for AI Content Rewriting

Google has agreed to pay News Corp, the owner of the Wall Street Journal, between US$5 million and US$6 million per year.

The payment is made to produce new AI-related content and products, as the information was reported on Tuesday.

According to a News Corp employee, the new arrangement is part of a long-standing cooperation between Google and News Corp.

AI startups are collaborating with news organizations to license old information for chatbot training.

Similar partnerships exist between OpenAI and news publications such as the Financial Times and Axel Springer, whose brands include Politico.
