AI chip market to reach $45 billion in 2021, AMD expects $2 billion revenue in 2024
As AMD introduced a new generation of AI chips on Wednesday, the company predicted that there was a $45 billion market for its data centre artificial intelligence processors this year.
The prediction for the entire addressable market has increased from AMD's June estimate of $30 billion.
From its MI300 series, Advanced Micro Devices unveiled two new AI data centre chips: one for generative AI applications and the other for supercomputers.
The MI300X generative AI processor has enhanced high-bandwidth memory, which boosts performance.
AMD has a "significant" supply of AI processors for next year that is "well above" $2 billion in value, according to CEO Lisa Su during a press conference.
