Waymo revealed that it had doubled its ride fare to 10,000 per week in just three months over its expansion
Alphabet’s Waymo will integrate Hyundai Motor’s electric vehicles into the robotaxi fleet. This integration of EVs will lead to the expansion of the robotaxi fleet in the United States.
Waymo possesses around 700 vehicles in its fleet. It stands as the sole US company engaged in the operation of uncrewed robotaxis that collects fares.
On-road testing for IONIQ 5 SUVs, built at Hyundai's plant in Georgia and outfitted with Waymo's self-driving tech, is set to start in late 2025.
The collaboration with Hyundai is taking place just a few days before CEO Elon Musk of Tesla (TSLA.O) is scheduled to reveal his strategy for a self-driving taxi service.
Musk could also talk about his intentions for his firm to operate a ride-sharing service that would enable Tesla owners to list their vehicles when not in use.

"The team at our new manufacturing facility is ready to allocate a significant number of vehicles for the Waymo One fleet as it continues to expand," Jose Munoz, global COO of Hyundai Motor said in a statement.
Additionally, Jose Munoz said, "We are actively exploring additional opportunities for collaboration."
Also, in 2024, Waymo also opened its services to everyone in San Francisco, without the need to join a waitlist. It is also expanding its operations in metro Phoenix.
