UK-Based Veetee Foods Expands Global Footprint with $36M State-of-the-Art Facility in Selma, North Carolina, Promises to Create 200 Local Jobs
Veetee Foods, the UK-based family-owned UK rice products company is on the cusp of expansion into the US. With an investment of $36 million, Veetee Foods will soon be open for business in Selma, North Carolina. Along with this massive funding and an even bigger plant, Veetee Foods will also create a localised employment of 200 jobs and cement its presence in the American market.
Production Plant in the Works
As Veetee is set to open a new facility in Selma, North Carolina, US, the plan to enable the company to increase its production capacity is in the cards. Veetee Foods' new facility will serve as a major production and meet the growing demand for its products in the US. The first batch of production will include bagged rice varieties such as basmati and jasmine, microwaveable rice pots, and convenience foods like pasta, ramen, and mac 'n' cheese under the Hungryheads brand.
This partnership between the UK and the US is being heartily welcomed in the States. Especially in the state of North Carolina which is supporting the project with a Job Development Investment Grant over a 12-year period, including funding of almost $1 million. Echoing this sentiment, the Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper welcomed Veetee Foods to North Carolina, and said, “Our state's talented workforce and worker training systems, along with our infrastructure and transportation networks, give companies the confidence they seek in a world-class business location like Johnston County.”

This family Food Group supplies its products to all major supermarkets and online through its own website. The company's remarkable success through decades in the UK market has laid the foundation for its US expansion through HungryHeads, a range of ambient meals for students.
