Under pressure from the Biden administration, G42 this year began ripping out Chinese hardware it was using and sold off Chinese investment

The UAE plans to partner with the US to use American technology to build its own advanced tech industry.

The tech company, G42 operating in Abu Dhabi has successfully obtained a $1.5 billion investment from Microsoft, and formed a collaboration with semiconductor manufacturer Nvidia.

US Imposed Restrictions on US Technology

However, the US has expressed concerns about the UAE's close ties with China. On this, the US has imposed restrictions on the export of certain American technology to the UAE and other countries in the Middle East.

US President, Joe Biden will host the United Arab Emirates president on Monday. The goal is to have talks on the Gulf state’s plans for artificial intelligence. The talk is also to draw interest from US geopolitical rival China.

"We cannot let this sort of wave of technological breakthroughs pass by us and not be somehow in partnership with it," Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE's president told journalists on Thursday ahead of the White House visit.

G42 to Collaborate with US Tech Companies

Facing mounting pressure from the Biden administration, G42 this year started removing Chinese-made equipment it was utilizing and disposing of investments from China. The aim is to collaborate more closely with American companies. This move came before the US$1.5 billion deal with Microsoft.

This will be the first visit of a UAE president to the White House. However, Sheikh Mohamed, serving as the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, made two previous visits to the White House.

G42 is a tech holding company and a major player in artificial intelligence, playing a key role in the UAE's strategy to lead the world in this domain through numerous companies across sectors such as biotechnology, surveillance, healthcare, and data centers.
