Telegram introduces a new feature to provide immersive experiences to its free and premium users
After WhatsApp, Telegram is undoubtedly one of the most popular encrypted messaging platforms. The features offered by this platform are quite lucrative and offer immersive experiences to its users. Even though most of its features are free to use for its users, the platform is planning on growing its premium-only base to enhance its competitiveness. The company launched a paid subscription service in June this year. Recently, Telegram announced another update that includes some handy new features for its free and premium subscribers.
For premium users, the platform is now offering transcriptions of video messages. This feature was previously limited to just voice messages and is now effectively expanding to videos as well. It is quite a useful feature, given the users are in a situation where are will not be able to listen to a voice message. There are also many free ways of accessing the video-to-message translation feature, however, becoming a premium subscriber will make things far more efficient for the users.
Another feature offered by Telegram is Topics, this new addition will solve common problems that exist in groups with a lot of members. The company claims that groups with over 200 members can toggle Topics to set aside a portion of the group for different topics that a user might be interested in. The Topics feature can also make use of all the core chat features, including pinned messages, bots, shared media, polls, and others. This feature is, however, accessible to everyone. Telegram says that the developers are planning to add a different set of tools for smaller groups before 2022 ends.
Telegram is also exploring ‘collectible usernames’, enabling users to assign unique names to their accounts and chats. These collectible usernames are proclaimed to be secured by the TON blockchain network. There is always a market for vanity usernames, especially when it comes to smaller groups.
