Here are the all-time most popular NFTs at the moment and even in 2023
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have grown into a multibillion-dollar industry in recent years, with new projects being launched daily. With celebrities and significant brands adopting and minting NFTs, this new technology has garnered widespread media attention and has become one of the most discussed topics in the digital world. Facebook’s recent rebranding to Meta foreshadows a new era of digital experiences, bringing digital assets to a wider audience’s attention.
CryptoPunks NFT collection
CryptoPunks, launched in 2017 by Larva Labs, is the most well-known NFT project in the crypto world and the first to go mainstream. The project’s popularity planted a seed in the NFT space, spawning a new generation of NFT projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club and Azuki. CryptoPunks is a collection of 10,000 different 8-bit cyberpunk-style avatars, including humans, zombies, apes, and aliens. Pipes, hats, glasses, shades, and other accessories are available for CryptoPunks.
Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection
Bored Ape Yacht Club, inspired by CryptoPunks, also has a 10,000 NFT collection. Each NFT is a cartoon ape with unique features such as facial expressions, fur color, and accessories. Yuga Labs, which recently acquired the NFT giant CryptoPunks, launched the project in 2021. These are some of the most widely used NFTs on the market. Owners of Bored Apes receive full commercial rights to the image, and the NFT also serves as an exclusive Yacht Club membership.
The Sandbox metaverse
The Sandbox project, launched by The Sandbox Team in 2021, is the result of the integration of three major technologies: blockchain, NFTs, and Defi. It’s a free-to-play metaverse that allows users to create and monetize digital assets and games. Almost everything in the Sandbox universe is an NFT, from your clothes to the ground you walk on. NFTs such as in-game items, structures, avatars, and games can be created by players. These NFTs are then available for trading on the Sandbox marketplace.
Decentraland
Ari Meilich and Esteban Ordano created Decentraland, the first fully decentralized virtual world. It will be open to the public in 2020. Citizens of Decentraland will be responsible for the governance and development of Decentraland as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). In Decentraland, NFTs represent plots of land as well as in-game items. Users will need to own digital real estate or hold Decentraland’s native cryptocurrency, MANA, to vote on in-game policies.
Axie Infinity
Sky Mavis, a Vietnam-based technology company, launched Axie Infinity in 2018 and currently holds the top spot for all-time NFT sales volume at USD 4 billion. The game has over two million active users, making it one of the most successful NFT projects. Axie Infinity is a Play to Earn video game that uses deck building and battling mechanics similar to Hearthstone and Slay the Spire. Each Axie is an NFT with a unique set of characteristics and abilities. Axie can be bred to produce new Axie; however, breeding necessitates the use of Smooth Love Potion (SLP), and Axie can only be multiplied seven times.
Nouns
Nouns and their collection of only 222 pieces are also on the ETH Blockchain. This project is less than a year old, and the cheapest art piece currently costs 81.5 ETH. Nouns are 32-bit avatars of people, places, and things. One noun is created every day. A horse, a taco, and an airplane are all examples of Nouns NFT.
Metaverse
You get over 240 thousand Google results on Mekaverse in less than 0.5 seconds – a collection of 8,888 Meka in desperate need of Drivers. This project was founded in August of last year and has since grown to become one of the top NFT projects on ETH. In comparison to other popular projects, this one has a slightly lower entry fee for newcomers – 0.9 ETH. Over 150,000 ETH, or nearly 400 million dollars, was traded in the last seven days when buying and selling Mekas.
CyberKongz
The CyberKongz is yet another animal-themed NFT project on the Ethereum blockchain. This collection has only 5,000 pieces and fewer than 2,500 owners worldwide. The so-called “floor price,” or the cheapest collectible you can buy from this collection, is 7.9 ETH, or about $2,600.
Doodles
Doodles have a collection size of 10,000 and come in a variety of colors, traits, and sizes. These strange creatures enjoy playing roles or transforming into sweet treats. Anyone with at least one Doodle can help coordinate the Doodles Community Treasury by deciding on project milestones and decisions.
Azuki
Azuki NFT is a collection of 10,000 avatars designed to bridge the real and virtual worlds. They rose to prominence thanks to their stunning anime-inspired art style. The team is hard at work to make Azuki one of the most well-known digital brands in the metaverse. If you own an Azuki, you have access to the Garden, an exclusive membership area. With this membership, you are eligible for streetwear collaborations, NFT releases, and live events.
