Malayalam cinema shines: A.R. Rahman’s music for The Goat Life nominated for HMMA 2024
The Malayalam film, Aadujeevitham aka The Goat Life, has garnered two nominations in the 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA). These nominations honour the film’s powerful soundtrack and background score, bringing global recognition to Malayalam cinema.
The first nomination is for the track "Periyone," composed by the Oscar-winning A. R. Rahman, under the 'Song-Feature Film' category. The song is sung by Jithin Raj and has been written by Rahman and lyricist Rafiq Ahamed himself.
The second nomination acknowledges Rahman for excellent job work in the film's background score. The second nomination is for Rahman's work in the 'Score-Independent Film' category on the background score of the film. The Goat Life, starring the ace actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, was released in March 2024. The film has been seen with a masterful interest both in India and worldwide, as far as the content and artistry of the film are concerned since then.
Presented by the Hollywood Music In Media Academy, the HMMAs have gained widespread acclaim for honouring excellence in original music from every form of visual media around the world. Spanning categories such as film, television, video games, trailers, commercials, documentaries, and special programming, the awards offer a wide scope to musical talent from a very wide entertainment industry spectrum. The Avalon Theatre in Los Angeles is scheduled to host the event on November 20.
