Type the words “artificial intelligence” into a search engine and you’ll be overwhelmed with results. A quick search prior to writing this article threw up a variety of AI-based news stories, including Mark Zuckerberg’s plans to launch a new creator cloning feature on Instagram, AI turning Family Guy into a 1980s live-action sitcom, and AI’s role in tackling climate change.
To say that AI is reshaping the world around us would be an understatement. However, at this point, a lot of the news stories are speculative. To put it another way, a lot of the talk surrounding AI focuses on how innovations will change the world. It’s a fast-moving industry, but the practical applications of AI currently pale in comparison to the technology’s promise.
AI Is Useful Right Now
This doesn’t mean there aren’t a plethora of applications for AI right now. One thing AI-based programs are particularly adept at is data processing and analytics. Companies wanting to refine their products and provide a better all-around service are using apps such as KX. Take, for example, the real money online casino at Paddy Power. Part of a multi-billion-dollar industry filled with major brands, Paddy Power is packed with slots, table games, promotions, and payment options.
Ensuring players get access to the products they want, such as Buffalo Blitz or Quantum Roulette, is down to data. Specifically, which games are people playing, and how long are they playing them for? Traditional data analytics tools could answer these questions. However, Paddy Power’s executives wanted more insights, so the company now uses KX. As noted by KX, the decision to use the software was based on a need to improve “operational intelligence” and generate “fast accurate decisions.”
In simple terms, an AI-based data analytics tool can respond to real-time actions and make instant decisions. It can also use current data to predict future behaviors, which is useful for a casino company aiming to stay one step ahead of its competition. The same is true for big companies in other industries.
Turning Real-Time Data into Real Actions

Alibaba, the world’s largest e-commerce site, uses AI to analyze real-time data to predict future behaviors. For example, the AI bot might conclude that garden tools are hot right now. If that’s the case, garden tools could be listed on Alibaba’s homepage and in suggested items widgets. The company’s AI can also be used to predict which products might be popular in the future based on previous trends. Beyond marketing and customer service, AI-driven data analytics is also being used to keep us safe.
Tesla’s full self-driving autopilot technology is one of the best examples of how AI can process data in real-time. Activate autopilot, and the car pulls data from dozens of cameras and sensors dotted around the car. This data is analyzed in fractions of a second to keep the car moving safely along any road in almost any weather conditions. This could be the most impressive application of AI data analytics because autopilot is keeping people safe on the roads.
AI holds a lot of promise, but it will be a few years before a lot of innovations make an impact. That being said, we’re already seeing the potential of AI, particularly when it comes to data analytics. From games and commerce to driving, security, and all manner of data-driven activities, AI has already changed the world in plenty of practical ways.
