WhatsApp Testing New Features to Simplify User Experience: Voicemail, Partial Text Selection & More

WhatsApp is developing a new feature similar to the popular voicemail, allowing Android users to send a message to the recipient if the call goes unanswered. According to WaBetaInfo, this feature is currently available to some WhatsApp Beta users with the latest Android 2.25.23.21. Users are encouraged to explore the new addition and offer feedback.

How to Record Voice Messages After Missed Calls?

With the latest Android update, WhatsApp Beta users will have access to the voicemail-like feature, allowing them to try it. This also indicates that after successful testing, the Meta-owned tech giant is likely to release this feature on the messaging app.

The voicemail-like feature is simple to use. When the receiver does not answer the call, a prompt will appear in the chat interface. This prompt allows the caller to record and send a voice message instantly, helping them quickly deliver their message without waiting for a callback.

Once the voice message is delivered to the recipient, a missed call notification will appear in their chat section, followed by the voice message. This enables the user to see both the missed call notification and the voice message attempted by the caller.

Along with this new update, WhatsApp is also working on simplifying the ‘reporting’ process for its users. Previously, the users had to describe the issue clearly and attach a screenshot to report an issue; a time-consuming method that led many users to avoid reporting the problems. But with the new update, the user can report a problem with just one click.

What is Partial Text Selection?

Another helpful feature under beta testing that WhatsApp users can expect soon is the “partial text selection” feature. Users will easily be able to select and highlight specific parts of chats, saving time and effort.

Overall, WhatsApp is working on a few essential features that allow users to send voice messages after calls, select specific text parts, and simplify the reporting process. Users who can’t wait to try these features can explore them in WhatsApp Beta.
