Apple to Introduce e-SIM Only Models in Its iPhone 17 Series in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, & More

With the launch date of iPhone 17 drawing near, tech enthusiasts are getting excited about the new features and updates the models will see. One of the widespread rumours suggests that the iPhone 17 series will be e-SIM only. So far, Apple has limited this e-SIM technology to the US alone. However, the tech company is now planning to expand these e-SIM phones to other countries. 

e-SIM Only Phones Expanding Beyond the US

Three years after introducing e-SIM iPhone models in the US, Apple is now taking this technology to other parts of the world. This technology will most likely be available in most European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, etc.

iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to be an ultra-thin device, works on e-SIM to save space. This Air model is a significant step ahead for Apple, as it offers a sleek design without compromising on features.

The Information has reported that the Apple iPhone 17 Air will feature powerful upgrades and changes. Another report from MacRumors has also pointed out that the tech giant is already preparing retail partners for the transition. Apple has made it compulsory for authorized resellers in the European Union to complete a training course on e-SIM-only iPhones. 

Apple iPhone 17 Series: Key Features & Specifications

Apple will release its iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max on 9 September 2025 during its annual fall event. The company will also launch its new Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. 

One of the important changes the iPhone 17 series will see is the replacement of the Plus model by the new ultra-thin Air model. The remaining models are also about to upgrade significantly compared to their iPhone 16 counterparts.

The ProMotion display is one of the key upgrades that people are widely talking about. Also, all the iPhone 17 models are said to feature a 24MP selfie camera. The base model will be powered by Apple’s A19 chip, while pro models will have an A19 Pro chip. Furthermore, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to have a 5000 mAh battery, which is the biggest battery an iPhone model has had so far.
