Honor-Launches-Magic-V5

Honor Magic V5 Packs a 6100mAh Silicon-Carbon Battery and Smart YOYO AI in Ultra-Slim Frame

Honor has stepped up the foldable smartphone race with the launch of Magic V5 in China on July 2. The device claims the title of the world’s thinnest inward-folding phone, with a folded thickness of just 8.8mm and a weight of only 217 grams.

The slim form, especially in the Ivory White variant, puts it ahead of close rivals, offering a new benchmark in foldable smartphone design.

Engineering Excellence with Powerful Internals

Despite debates over the raised camera module, Magic V5 grabs attention with its engineering finesse. It uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a next-gen silicon-carbon battery, delivering 6100mAh capacity and fast charging speeds of 66W wired and 50W wireless.

This battery, exclusive to the 1TB model, stands as the world’s first of its kind in mass production.

Large OLED Displays with Strong Durability

The phone’s dual display setup includes a 7.95-inch inner screen and a 6.43-inch outer display, both OLED with 120Hz refresh rates. Honor reinforces durability with IP58 and IP59 ratings, aerospace-grade materials, and a scratch-resistant NanoCrystal Shield. The lighter build and nearly crease-free fold enhance both looks and handling.

AI-Powered Features and Smooth Performance

AI plays a big role here. Magic V5 introduces the upgraded YOYO AI assistant, designed to help with tasks like presentation creation and real-time photo editing. Running on MagicOS 9.0.1 and Android 15, the device also supports 5G across a wide range of bands.

Pro-Grade Camera System

The triple camera setup includes a 64MP periscope telephoto lens, a 50MP wide, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. Both inner and outer selfie cameras offer 20MP resolution.

While some critique the camera bump, many may trade it for the enhanced imaging capabilities.

Stylish Color Options and Competitive Pricing

Available in Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown, Magic V5 starts at RMB 8,999 for the 12GB+256GB model. Honor plans an international rollout later this year, aiming to challenge Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7.

A Bold Step Toward the Future of Foldables

Giving style, substance, and AI together, Honor sees Magic V5 as much more than just the thinnest foldable. It starts to change how a foldable smartphone can move in the direction of being lighter, smarter, and more powerful without any compromise.
