Tata Motors' Safari and Harrier secure Global NCAP's Highest Safety award
Tata Motors has been awarded the prestigious Global NCAP Safer Choice Award for its popular SUV models, Tata Safari and Harrier. This underlines the commitment to meeting the highest standards of safety of vehicles sold in India by the company.
Both the Safari and Harrier have garnered critical acclaim for their impressive features in terms of safety and received a 5-star rating for safety under Global NCAP's Safer Cars for India campaign.
Global NCAP's Safer Choice Award: A Benchmark of Excellence
One of the most enviable awards since its inception in 2018 has been the Global NCAP Safer Choice Award. Its protocols have been revised as recently as August 2024, which makes the feat more commendable.
In the process of earning this award, Tata Motors had to put both the Safari and Harrier through a set of grueling tests in addition to the standard safety ratings. These additional tests also fulfilled the performance and volume requirements for AEB, speed assistance, and BSD systems.
Tata Motors' Commitment to Safety Recognized
David Ward, President of the Towards Zero Foundation, congratulated Tata Motors on its continued commitment to road safety. The Safer Choice Award is a testament to the company's ongoing leadership in the field, blending protection for both the occupants and vulnerable road users with a Star rating across its range. Tata Motors has paid off the commitment to go above and beyond the minimum regulatory requirements on safety to become the first manufacturer to fully meet the updated Safer Choice Award requirements under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign.
Safari and Harrier Reach Higher Safety Standards
The house-to-house grant of the Safer Choice Award to the Tata Safari and Harrier hinged upon several salient requirements about safety, namely 5-star Global NCAP rating for Adult Occupant Protection, a 5-star Global NCAP rating for Child Occupant Protection, A speed assistance system that meets the full score in Global NCAP's test criteria, AEB-car-to-car and vulnerable road user which meets UN regulatory performance standards, Offer BSD as a stand-alone option which is also meeting the performance requirements set by Global NCAP.
Leading Industry Safety Standards
Elucidating the essence of this milestone, Mohan Savarkar, Vice President, and Chief Product Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, said, “Not only is our entire portfolio the highest star rated in their respective segment, but we have gone a step further by having the only SUV line-up in India which is completely 5-star rated, setting a benchmark for the passenger vehicles industry to follow. With this approach, we have ensured that safety now ranks as the top priority for the Indian car buyer.”
He added, “This recognition today, underscores our unwavering commitment to safety and innovation, ensuring that our customers experience not only comfort and performance but also the highest standards of safety. We are thankful to the entire Global NCAP team for supporting us in full strength as we continue to make safer cars for India."
