TATA-Group-Soon-to-Become-First-Production-House-of-iPhones

Tata Group might become the first production house of iPhones in the country

Tata is planning on acquiring Wistron in an INR 5,000 crore deal. If it comes through, Tata will become the first ever Indian company to manufacture iPhones in India, which is currently being handled by Taiwanese manufacturers such as Wistron, Foxconn, and Pegatron. Reports claim that Tata was looking to set up shop in the electronics manufacturing unit with Wistron to manufacture iPhones in the country. Currently, Apple has three manufacturing plans in India including Wistron, Pegatron, and Foxconn.

In related news, the ongoing conflict at the company's Foxconn plant in Zhengzhou, China, has severely hampered the manufacturing of the iPhone 14 Pro models. A day after violent demonstrations erupted at Foxconn's Zhengzhou plant in China, sources state that over 20,000 workers, including new hires, have fled the manufacturer. Workers had voiced their dissatisfaction with the working environment, which erupted into protests over the past couple of days.

To end demonstrations, Foxconn has offered to pay recently hired employees 10,000 yuan (US$1400) to leave the factory. CNN was able to access a communication from the corporation to its staff asking them to go back to their dorms. In addition, the business guaranteed to pay 8000 yuan if the workers agreed to leave Foxconn and another 2000 yuan once they boarded the bus to exit the building.

At the moment, Apple’s India manufacturing scene only catered to the iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE. The iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max variants are still manufactured in China and are imported to India as well as to other countries.
