Crypto ownership among Indian women surges to 10%, study finds
According to research, nearly one in every ten women in India holds Bitcoin, placing India third in the world. Women crypto owners accounted for 63 million in India, compared to a female population of around 685 million — a 9.2% proportion, according to statistics from the foreign currency education portal Forex Suggest.
Vietnam leads the list with 12 million female cryptocurrency owners, accounting for 24% of the country's female population. The Philippines comes in second with 9.6%, representing over 5.5 million female cryptocurrency owners. However, except for a few nations, there exist discrepancies in crypto ownership. Vietnam has the most evenly distributed male and female crypto owners, with 47% female.
"This is a difference of only six percentage points, demonstrating that female access to digital currencies is supported by local culture," according to the report. Indonesia had a 14-point gender difference, with male and female shares of 57% and 43%, respectively.
Kenya and Colombia came in third and fourth, respectively, with women accounting for 42% of total crypto owners in both nations. India was rated eighth, with male and female cryptocurrency ownership rates of 60% and 40%, respectively. TNN
