KFin-Technologies-Surges-7.69%-to-₹1,133.30Stock Market Today: KFin Technologies Surges 7.69% to ₹1,133.30

On April 17, 2025, amid mixed performances rendered by various sectors, the Indian stock market bounced back, reflecting such resilience. While the IT sector missed its way, owing to lackluster earnings from major players, the financial and fertiliser sectors were there to lend their hands toward overall market optimism. Benchmark indices of BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 registered modest gains, reflecting a positive market feeling with gains stacked by select private banks, textile, and fertiliser firms.

Market Indices Performance

The BSE Sensex closed at 77,476.53, logging a rise of 432.24 points or 0.56%, while Nifty 50 reached 23,551.95 with an increase of 114.75 points or 0.49%. The Nifty Bank index advanced 1.06% to settle at 53,681.40.

Sectoral Movements

Troubles within the IT sector emerged as Wipro's lackluster Q4 results and guidance for the coming quarter cast a pall over sentiment; the Nifty IT index was down by 2.0%. Whereas the other end of the spectrum appeared to be the buoyancy in the financial sector as ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank rose by 1.9% and 1%, respectively, helping the Nifty Financial index to an increase of 0.4%.

Currency and Foreign Investments

The Indian rupee was 0.2% strong at 85.5225 for its fourth consecutive session of gains. This gain came as dollar inflows, presumably from custody clients of foreign banks helped counter the aggressive selling by overseas investors of Indian equities throughout April.
