Snapchat Plus subscribers get chatGPT integrated chatbot named “My AI” running the latest technology
Intro: Snapchat is developing its own AI chatbot based on the popular OpenAI ChatGPT. The new Snapchat feature ChatGPT Integrated Chatbot will initially be available to Snapchat+ subscribers, but soon be available to everyone. Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has also stated that this is only the beginning of the company’s AI plans.
The new ChatGPT integration will be called ‘My AI', and it will have its profile and look similar to any other friend when used in-app. It appears to be identical to ChatGPT, but with some of the more advanced functionality removed. Furthermore, Snapchat is said to have tweaked the AI to ensure that it follows the social network’s own rules. “My AI,” the new chatbot uses the most recent version of OpenAI’s GPT technology and has been customized for its users. My AI is available as an experimental feature for Snapchat+ with a $US3.99 per month subscription service from the social network.
The new chatbot, “My AI” will appear at the top of the Chat tab. My AI can assist in answering trivia questions or writing a haiku. My AI was programmed to have a distinct voice and personality that reflects its core values of “friendship, learning, and fun.” It has also been trained to follow the app’s trust and safety policies. The report says, “Snap’s employees have trained it to adhere to the company’s trust and safety guidelines and not give responses that include swearing, violence, sexually explicit content, or opinions about dicey topics like politics.” “The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re going to talk to AI every day,” Spiegel told The Verge. “And this is something we’re well positioned to do as a messaging service.” All interactions with My AI will be recorded and reviewed to improve the product’s experience. Snapchat also warns users not to share any secrets with My AI or rely on it for advice. According to the company, while My AI is designed to avoid biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information, errors may occur. Users are encouraged to provide feedback by pressing and holding on to any message from My AI. Snapchat believes that AI can be extremely beneficial to the app’s experience over time, while also facilitating deeper connections. In the short term, My AI could increase the company’s paid subscriber base, which recently surpassed two million.
