Revolutionize Your Home: Discover Samsung's Next-Gen SmartThings!
Samsung has launched its 3D Map View feature for SmartThings that allows users to view a virtual 3D map of their home and easily manage connected devices such as lighting, thermostats, and appliances.
First unveiled at CES 2024, 3D Map View is now available in all SmartThings accessible countries. It meets the challenge of managing the growing number of smart home devices by integrating them into an interactive 3D version of the user’s floor plan.
Unlike previous 2D versions that required a given floor plan, the new 3D Map View uses spatial AI and LiDAR sensors on Samsung devices like the Bespoke Jet Bot to accurately map home layouts. This allows users to better understand the size and layout of their home within the SmartThings internal app:
Seungbeom Choi, Head of the Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics, said: “Samsung is constantly working to enable consumers to seamlessly control their home devices anytime and anywhere, and Map View is the result of effort these types of results.”
The enhanced map view also includes advanced filtering for device-specific monitoring and control. Samsung plans to add AI characters unveiled at CES later in the year for a more personalized smart home experience.
“We will continue to introduce the right range of services and products so that our customers can enjoy the best smart home experiences with quality of life,” adds Choi.
Originally launched in Korea and the US. last year, Map View’s global rollout will allow SmartThings users around the world to benefit from the new 3D mapping capabilities. Samsung is also partnering with manufacturers to expand Map View and create a large-screen UX optimized for real estate, office, and commercial applications.
Conclusion: The next generation of Samsung SmartThings comes with many new features and improvements designed to enhance the smart home experience. With a focus on connectivity, AI-powered automation, security, user experience, and sustainability, Samsung is setting a new standard for what consumers can expect from their smart home ecosystem.
