Samsung Sets Ambitious Goal: Shipping 100 Million Mobile Devices This Year
Samsung launched the ‘Galaxy AI’ with the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones. The brand’s top-end flagship smartphone the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra not only gets good cameras but also some AI features to enhance the shooting experience There is also some AI tech for this video. Most of the AI in the UI is built-in. These AI features may slow down older Galaxy devices, however, don’t worry because the Galaxy AI suite is also reachable for some older Galaxy devices.
TM Roh, president and head of the Samsung Mobile Experience (MX) business at Samsung Electronics, said on Monday that 100 million devices will get Galaxy AI this year.
Over the years, Samsung’s flagship smartphones have done well in India. Sales of the Galaxy S23 series increased 1.4 times compared to the Galaxy S22 series due to its performance and camera capabilities. In just three days now, the Galaxy S24 series has reached a record 250,000 pre-bookings in the country. This could be due to the Galaxy AI of the S24 Series.
“This year we are changing the paradigm of the industry by combining the power of AI with the Galaxy S24 series. Cell phones were invented to connect people, and we use them in many areas of our lives. We think mobile will be a key area for AI technology to penetrate as people already use their smartphones for almost everything, making it a perfect habit. With the Galaxy S24 series, we firmly believe in changing the user experience through Galaxy AI,” mentioned Roh in a press release.
“Samsung is a leader in the mobile industry with more than 1 billion Galaxy customers. We have decades of collecting consumer insights, years of innovation to optimize AI for mobile, and open collaboration with industry leaders using the mouth, introduced the Galaxy AI, which will become the ‘global standard for mobile AI,” he continued.
It is worth noting that Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy AI’s availability with the One UI 6.1 update. The update will gradually reach Galaxy flagships in the first quarter of this year. The Galaxy AI features are available on the Galaxy S23 series including the Galaxy S23 FE.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will also get the Galaxy AI suite. As for the tablet segment, the Galaxy Tab S9 Series will soon get some Galaxy AI features. Galaxy AI includes Generative AI Edits, Transcription Assist, Circle to Search (via Google), and more.
