Samsung is reportedly planning to introduce the Galaxy Ring, a new line of smart wearables, at its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which will take place sometime in July. Samsung first previewed the Galaxy Ring at the Mobile World Congress. In February, there were great color options. Reports are emerging that Samsung’s tiny health and fitness tracking device is expected to be hacked.

Consumer technology news platform Android Authority reported that the Samsung Galaxy Ring will cost around $300-$350 in the US and Rs 35,000 in India.

The report also says that Samsung may introduce a new pairing layer with its companion app exclusive to Galaxy Ring for AI-powered health insights. In the U.S. is expected to have a monthly subscription of less than $10.

In an interview with CNBC earlier this year, Samsung Electronics Vice President Dr. Hon Pak said that the company is “considering” a subscription system for the Samsung Galaxy Health app. However, he said Samsung needs to strengthen the app's capabilities and search before adding paid-tier services to the platform. During the interview, Pak also discussed how artificial intelligence could improve Samsung’s healthcare.

“Imagine the opportunities of the talkative model, acting as my digital assistant, writing my medical records, viewing my physical data, engaging with my mobile devices, wearables during all that time … start bringing more insight and individuality”.

Samsung is also reportedly working on its next-generation Galaxy Watch, which is likely to be launched alongside the Galaxy Ring at the Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung could use this to provide subscription-based health insights for an AI-driven health app for its companion health app for wearables.

What to expect

Samsung has already confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy Ring will be available in black, gold, and silver colors and nine different sizes.

According to sources, the battery capacity of the intelligent rings will depend on their size. The petite ring reportedly has a 14.5-mAh battery, and the largest has a 21.5-mAh battery.

While Samsung has yet to confirm any details about the Galaxy Ring, when the device was announced at MWC earlier this year, Samsung said that it will be able to work with the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

Samsung said both devices will work intelligently to collect and track different metrics based on which works best. In some cases, both devices can work together for optimal results.

Not much is known about the sensors inside the Galaxy Ring, but according to sources, Samsung's upcoming fitness tracker uses “blood flow measurement” and electrocardiogram (ECG) to track and measure health and sexuality.

Conclusion: The Samsung Galaxy Ring is expected to offer exceptional value, combining the functionality of a high-end wearable device with the luxury of a premium product, and will usher in a dramatic shift in the wearable tech landscape.
