PCLaw | Time Matters™ LLC was established as a Joint Venture on June 1, 2019, between LexisNexis and LEAP. PCLaw | Time Matters provides practice management, billing, and trust accounting software for law firms,used and trusted for more than 30 years by legal professionals worldwide.

PCLaw | Time Matters provides legal professionals with the best on-premises legal software solutions available and offers a path to cloud-based practice management with LEAP legal software. They aim to provide lawyers with all the necessary technology, tools, and support needed to thrive in the current business climate.

Creating a Global Dominance

PCLaw | Time Matters LLC is led by Chris Stock, CEO and a member of the PCLaw | Time Matters Board of Directors. Chris joined LEAP in 2008 in Australia.  In 2014, he was promoted as the General Manager and successfully established LEAP in the United Kingdom.  Nine months later, he was asked to open another office and then he launched LEAP in the United States as the then CEO.

Enhancing Law Firm Business Practices

Since the company’s inception as a standalone software organization, PCLaw | Time Matters has invested more than $10M a year in providing better products and support for their customers.

PCLaw | Time Matters investments include delivering new and improved software functionality, establishing local customer support teams, world-class business systems to help the company’s team better serve the customers, and providing new state-of-the-art training resources.

This is all part of the company’s commitment to help improve business practices for more than 13,000 law firms who use the PCLaw | Time Matters software.

PCLaw | Time Matters has spoken with members of more than one hundred law firms who use PCLaw® and/or Time Matters® and launched a new and improved AMP membership program based on the customer feedback.

Over the past year, the company has released hundreds of software and application-stability enhancements that improve workflows, automation, and third-party integrations.

Recently, PCLaw | Time Matters published the 2021 versions of Time Matters and PCLaw, which together, include integrations that provide functionality for secure document sharing, court deadline tracking, and online credit card payments.

When LEAP and LexisNexis formed the joint venture in 2019, it was done with one primary goal: to provide customers with product enhancements and more software options. The events of the past 18 months have highlighted the importance of investing in software and a solid IT infrastructure.

While PCLaw | Time Matters continues working on enhancements and innovations for their software to help customers increase the success of their firms, they also look for ways to provide a unique experience for their team members.

The company’s people and culture team, when faced with the challenges of the pandemic and the reality of all of their team members working remotely, undertook new efforts to keep their team connected.Trivia night, bingo night, surprise food deliveries, a dinner-theater murder mystery, escape rooms, cooking classes, and other fun events were brought, virtually, to the PCLaw | Time Matters team.

Tackling the Challenges Gracefully

As with all professions, COVID-19 continues to impact business needs across the legal market, and businesses must evolve. Both PCLaw | Time Matters customers and employees require virtual services, remote access, and flexibility. The company quickly released new platforms and improved Apps to ensure business continuity for their customers.

PCLaw | Time Matters customers have increased levels of turnover requiring additional licensing, support, and training.  Since March 2020:

  • More than 5,500 Users Were Trained: P|T University courses have been made available in both on-demand and live online user training formats in topics ranging from “Getting Started” to “Advanced Reporting”.
  • 2,500 Legal Staff were Educated: Monthly webinars helped to keep the users aware of the best practices through the turbulent market last year. 2021 saw the highest attendance yet.
  • 26,000+ Online Chats: P|T firms quickly adjusted to live chat, a new way to access online customer support; gaining efficiency in productivity and quicker resolution times.

PCLaw | Time Matters understands that the highest-quality software, support, and training comes from individuals who are familiar with the legal regulations and practices that are unique to their local jurisdictions. Accordingly, the company is committed to bringing jobs back to the United States and Canada. As a result, PCLaw | Time Matters was able to create more than 60 new jobs in North America, with their teams primarily operating in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Toronto, Ontario.

Their employees understand how legal accounting, case management, and the practice of law operate in various jurisdictions because they are local, and many have worked in law firms.
