PM Modi Says ‘Viksit Bharat’ Cannot Be Built Without Women Leading Economic Growth
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has linked the recent surge in global capital inflows to India's internal political predictability. Speaking on the heels of the 2026 India-US trade deal, the Prime Minister stated that negotiating from a “position of strength” was only possible due to a decade of sustained structural reforms. India has now secured Free Trade Agreements with 38 separate countries, including the European Union.
These pacts are specifically designed to provide extensive market access for the MSME sector—covering chemicals, textiles, and gems. Modi noted that, unlike in previous decades, when talks frequently collapsed, the current “Reform Express” is fueled by a young, increasingly skilled population and a low-inflation environment.
The Prime Minister’s focus on macroeconomic stability is backed by a push for deeper innovation and simpler governance. He identified three core reform priorities for the next ten years to ensure the nation remains a “digital leader.” A major part of this involves leveraging the UPI platform's success to build a native Artificial Intelligence ecosystem. This requires a rapid expansion of data center infrastructure and raw computing power. Modi also addressed the 2026 Budget, describing the defense allocation as a “we are ready” moment rather than a “bahi khata” document of compulsion. The goal is to modernize the military in line with current geopolitical realities while maintaining strict fiscal discipline.
Beyond just numbers, the Prime Minister emphasized that “Viksit Bharat” relies on women playing the most vital role in the economy. Every central policy decision is now guided by this gender-inclusive welfare model. By combining political stability with aggressive reform, India aims to keep investor confidence at an all-time high.
Modi’s critique of past “run-of-the-mill” approaches highlights a shift toward a more proactive, preparation-based fiscal strategy. As India targets higher growth cycles, the integration of AI and modernized defense remains the backbone of the government's long-term vision for 2031 and beyond.
