After 'Solving' Eight Conflicts, Trump Offers to Mediate Escalating Pakistan-Afghanistan Clashes
The US President has recently revealed his intentions to solve the ongoing conflict at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. According to Trump, the Israel-Hamas war is the eighth war he has resolved during his presidency.
While heading to Israel for a peace mission, Trump mentioned he had been informed about the attacks at the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said, “ I’ll have to wait until I get back. I’m doing another one because I’m good at solving. I’m good at wars. I’m good at making peace.”
Donald Trump Wants to Solve Pakistan-Afghanistan Conflict
Donald Trump says that his intentions to solve conflicts worldwide are inspired by humanitarian concerns, not by a desire for personal recognition or satisfaction. He said, “It’s an honour to do it. I save millions of lives.”
Trump also talked about the Nobel Committee, saying that “In all fairness to the Nobel Committee, it was for 2024. And this was picked for 2024. But there are those who say you could make an exception, because a lot of things happened during 2025 that are done and complete and great. But I did this not for the Nobel. I did this to save lives. I mean, we’ve saved millions of lives.”
About the Pakistan-Afghanistan Border Clashes
Recent border clashes between Pakistan and Afghan Taliban forces along the Durand Line followed alleged Pakistani airstrikes, leading to retaliatory attacks and deadly exchanges of fire. Pakistan attributes the conflict to rising militancy planned from Afghan soil. On the other hand, Afghanistan accuses Pakistan of violating its territory and airspace.
Pakistan's frustration stems from the Afghan Taliban’s harbouring of TTP militants, while Afghanistan historically disputes the legitimacy of the Durand Line as a border.
Overall, Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to solve the current conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan after resolving the Israel-Hamas war. He says that he is not doing this to get the Nobel Peace Prize; rather, he is motivated solely by humanitarian concern.
